The camps offer a range of quality activities. The students have a fantastic adventure, and in the process learn a great deal about themselves and the people around them. Key objectives for the camps include:
  • To provide students with the unique opportunity to discover important connections between themselves and nature.
  • To positively affect every student’s social and personal development.
  • To provide a safe and supportive environment with opportunities for students to test their own limits.
  • To provide an environment whereby students can develop trust and respect for each other.
To achieve these objectives, the students are faced with challenges whereby they need to be resourceful, apply problem-solving skills and display initiative. The camps provide the students with memories and skills that will last a life time.

Activities available include: chartered freshwater fishing, canoeing, raft building, high ropes, abseiling, flying fox, low ropes, milk crate climb, possum glider, commando course, hiking, initiative, problem solving & team building activities, orienteering, beach games, surf awareness, boogie boarding and sports games.

If your camp includes the fishing component, the fishing takes place in Quintrex boats which are powered by Minn Kota electric motors. A fishing guide, live shrimp, fishing rods and all tackle are provided with this service.

The camps are led by Steve Wilkes who has a teaching background with 15 years experience in the classroom and 9 years experience coordinating camps.  Steve also conducts the fishing component of the camps.  Steve writes a monthly article in Bush n Beach Fishing Magazine and a weekly article in the Gold Coast Bulletin.  Steve presented at the Brisbane International Boat Show in 2008 and the Gold Coast International Boat Shows in 2007.  Sports Tuition regularly has fishing footage aired on Channel 9 with Paul Burt.

All Sports Tuition staff members hold a current Child Suitability Card (Blue Card), current first aid and relevant qualifications for the activities.

Sports Tuition is a member of the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation.
